Bring Home a Table Built Just for You – Solid Macrocarpa, Rustic Charm, and Room for Everyone
Rustic Slab Farmhouse Table with Matching Benches
Handcrafted from solid macrocarpa—built to last, built for life.
I’ll craft this Rustic Farmhouse Table specifically for your space, using solid macrocarpa only—no shortcuts, no veneers. Each slab is selected for clear one-side timber, meaning the visible faces are free from knots and blemishes wherever possible. That said, with a table this size, some natural imperfections are part of the charm—hence the name “rustic.”
The thick 3-metre-long slab top features breadboard ends, a traditional joinery detail that strengthens the table and helps prevent splitting, warping, and bowing over time. It’s a timeless feature that adds both durability and character—perfect for coastal homes, country kitchens, or anywhere that values honest craftsmanship.
You’ll receive two matching bench seats, built to the same standard (without breadboard ends), offering plenty of room for family dinners, weekend gatherings, or a quiet cuppa in the morning sun. I’ve designed this set to offer generous legroom and a relaxed, rustic style—practical, honest, and built to last.
The timber is macrocarpa (Cupressus lusitanica), a locally grown softwood known for its warm tones and outdoor resilience. I use a variant of the half-lap joint, reinforced with stainless steel bolts, to ensure the structure is solid, heavy, and long-lasting.
To get the longest life out of your table, I recommend keeping it sheltered from harsh sun and rain—ideally under a roof or covered area. While it’s built for outdoor use, it’s best not to leave it sitting directly on grass for extended periods, as moisture can creep in over time. Annual maintenance is key: a splash of stain or preservative once a year will keep it looking great and performing well. If you’d like, I can offer this service during winter—just get in touch.
